André Campra (1660-1744) - Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738): two Provençal geniuses.
As part of the Capitales Culturelles du Département, Concerto Soave has chosen to pay tribute to two great Provençal composers of the Baroque period, whose posterity and destinies are very different. Indeed, while Campra from Aix-en-Provence still enjoys a fine reputation, Mouret from Avignon, his younger brother by some twenty years, is much less well known today, despite the richness and beauty of his music.

Read moreThe most enigmatic figure in the history of music, Carlo Gesualdo prince of Venosa (1566-1613) is known as much for his fascinating music as for his honor killing. His life and his work have never ceased to inspire composers of the 20th and 21st centuries: Igor Stravinsky (Monumentum pro Gesualdo), Peter Eötvös (Drei Madrigalkomödien), Salvatore Sciarrino (Luci miei traditrici), Philippe Gouttenoire (O Strana morte) or Denis Levaillant (Tomb of Gesualdo).
His enigmatic life has also given rise to various literary works (Anatole France - Le Puits de Sainte-Claire, Julio Cortázar - Clone, Dominique Fernandez: The Race to the Abyss) or cinematographic (Werner Herzog: Murder in five voices).
From Gesualdo to Maurice Ohana or Denis Levaillant, a musical journey between the 16th and 20th centuries!
